In the European rendition the dealer's second card is dealt after the players hit, double down, split, or stand on their hands. This can make a difference when it comes to taking cards that may help or hinder the dealer's hand. It also means that extra bets for doubling down or splitting hands are lost when the dealer has blackjack. An insurance bet will still be paid but all other bets lose.
